A new willow den is growing in Sam's wood
Our friend Christine came over in early spring to help me make a small structure out of fresh willow branches. This will grow as time goes on, and with careful weaving in of any fresh branches, it will turn into a natural live cabin eventually! Here's the process.
Thanks Christine!!!

Переглядів 2,9 тис.Місяць тому
To continue on from our Winter Day video, here we are in early Spring. The weather is not that much different yet, but there is most definitely more light in the sky, and the first baby animals arrived, too. Chores are pretty much the same, but adjusted to the season, that's true life on the farm, thriving on routine throughout the year! Hope some of you find it interesting enough anyways!!! Ok...

German coffee slab cake - the perfect treat after a storm

This is one of my favourite recipes at the moment - easy to make, perfect for storing in a tin or freezing, or eating straight away of course! You can add or leave out any spices you like, but I think it is perfect with the mix of spices they suggest in the recipe. A scrumptious treat!!! And here is the recipe: (I doubled it in the video so that it would fill one of my larger cake tins...) 7 te...

Where i live back in the day most plowing was done with one mule pulling a furring plow no one used the big turning plows like you see in this video. You plowed for your self and plowed for other people who did not have a mule and plow. There were a few people who had farming tractors and had a lot of ground to plow and these people grew a lot of each thing they planted. The one draw back to owning a horse or mule and that is a good pasture and either you had the money to buy all the feed these animals needed or you plowed up and planted enough acres of corn to feed them year round and saved some of the corn to be ground into corn meal. I have stood in the back of a truck bed with a pitch fork and throwed a lot of hay and soybeans up into the barn loft.

I'm studying breeds, in hopes to find the best one to be a farm dog, as well as to be a trick, obedience and agility partner. I've adored every airendale I've met. My one concern was their pray hunting heritage (I have a sweet cockatiel in my home) but it seems if I train a puppy up with supervision, they can know what to chase and what not to. There are moles, squirrels and foxes a plenty to ward off ;)

Outstanding........... If you ever discover oil under your property you're already half way to making your own barrels to put it in ! :D One idea for what to make with your machine is sloped roof panels for sheds. You could make them with a turn down on the top edge to stop rain getting inside by running along the underside of the sheet.
